What I got for my Christmas #2
Just a quick one today, as Jill and I are leaving the office early so we can get dolled up for the Wallpaper* Design Awards tonight. Fancy! Expect to see us named and shamed in the next issue after being chucked out the back door for loitering near the canapés.
Last week I shared what my brother and his girlfriend brought me, all the way from Tokyo. But here is what my Mum and Dad got me – something a little closer to home. It’s a limited edition print sold to support the local campaign to renovate the local lido. Isn’t she a glamour puss?
The beautiful 1930s Jubilee Pool has suffered terrible damage in last year’s storms – and I doubt it’s enjoying itself too much at the moment either. The local campaign includes selling art and arranging artistic evenings in the pub – perfect, and very ‘Penzance’. You can read more about the lido and the fundraising here.
In the Cornishman newspaper today, “Work on the 2.9 million pound project to secure the future of the pool is set to begin in April.” Sadly the Art Deco Jubilee Pool won’t be open in time to celebrate its 80th year but hopefully for the summer of 2016.
brilliant! Thanks for the update, to our reporter in the field! x
