what a week for a holiday
Yes, for once in my life I’d managed to book a week off during wonderful weather. Here is my round-up of what I did (other than lying on a blanket in the garden).
My main – modest – aim was to paint the hall so it wasn’t grubby peach. It’s not worth an after shot yet, but a friend and I have made a wallpapering pact so expect a real reveal soon. I warned her there will be tears over the trestle table before it’s all done.
I marveled daily that this cherry tree actually grows in my garden. I’ve never seen it in blossom before and expected it to be pink. I now look at all pink cherry trees and think, ‘hmmm, a bit vulgar’.
Except I photographed this one, on Darling Road.
While on this walk I checked out the Francis Drake Bowls Club, which I’m seriously thinking of joining. Look at their immaculate lawn, with Millennium Dome just visible in the distance.
Despite loving my week in my own ‘hood, today I must admit I felt pangs of envy as I went for a walk around Hackney. It was so busy, so many people on bikes, junk shops round every corner and this, a sewing shop for hipsters.
How will I ever go back to work?
I’ll bring the Kleenex!
And I’ll bring the gin. Sniffle.
