Weird book collecting habit
Er, I’m developing an egotistical book habit. I’ve been buying books with my name in the title. That is weird isn’t it? The idea hadn’t occurred to me until an old friend from my magazine days – hello Debi – bought me the first one as a gift. The House That Jill Built – how appropriate? – has since been joined by Jill The Reckless, found on Portobello road, and now today, something for my kids (or is it?) Jill & Dragon. I’d like to point out I’m only buying things I stumble across, it’s not like I’m all over eBay searching for books with the name ‘Jill’ in the title.
I’m absolutely going to go to eBAy to search for books with ‘Jill’ in the title…
Here’s the inside of The House That Jill Built.
Spoiler alert: By the end of that book, Jill has added so many extensions to her original house for all her new nursery rhyme friends that she has to build a whole other house. I can identify with that, if you substitute nursery rhyme friends for cushions and pots.
I haven’t read the P G Wodehouse yet, but apparently Reckelss Jill in that book has – I’m summarising – an adventure with a parrot, employment as a chorus girl and eventually love. Sounds awesome.
What weird book buying habits have you taken to?
Your husband isn’t called ‘Jack’, is he?
That would be so tidy.
I have the same – when I was younger all I wanted were books (and also mp3s collection) with my name! 🙂
