Trend or travesty?
Hay worked with one of the original founders of the movement in question. Clarisse Demory is all over it. And, you’re reading about it here on My Friend’s House. Three tell-tale signs* that the answer is trend, trend, trend. What am I banging on about? Memphis Group. Or should we call it New Memphis Group? Disciples of NMG? Whatever, here it is…
I snapped the little cushion (top right) yesterday on the Ferm stand at Home in front of two pastel shapes. I mention the pastel shapes cos I was quite taken with them. The table is by Miriam Cernuda, the beakers (worthy of inclusion in our most sophisticated feature from last year) are by Josephine Noel and the jug is from Darkroom, first seen at the shop’s So Sotsass exhibition during the last LDF – those Darkroom girls, they’re always a few steps ahead.
Here are some more colourful wares…
As mentioned, Hay – or specifically Wrong for Hay – worked with Nathalie Du Pasquier on a collection of patterned textiles, including the one on the chair above. There’s a great little hand-written blurb about Nathalie on her own website if you want to learn more about her. The cushion is by the magnificent Camille Walala and the blankets were one of our picks from LDF13, by Zuzunaga, who just won a Wallpaper design award – hooray them.
*ok the third point maybe not so much.
