Thornback & Peel shop opening

Last night the two of us made it out of our houses at the same time to attend Thornback & Peel’s shop opening. It’s at 7 Rugby Street in Bloomsbury, and the place was packed. As usual I took my camera but was too shy, and nervous of knocking things over, to take any pictures. Imagine this display with loads of people stood in front of it.

Thornback & Peel shop

The shop and stock look great, but the sweetest thing was the speeches made by founders Juliet Thornback and and Delia Peel. They talked about being match-made by a friend and how their business has progressed from making handbags in Deptford to the present day. It was so cute – a bit like a wedding. Their staff presented them with a big bouquet of flowers, which they didn’t throw into the crowd. And then they invited the woman who had introduced them to cut the big yellow ribbon on the shop front. Ahhh.
