Things I’m doing for autumn
1. The first being, enjoying what I think will be the last flowers from the garden this year. I say enjoying – since I took this picture I left the rose there till the petals fell off and it had to go in the bin. Sigh.
2. Spending lots of time in charge of a mop and bucket. Rain + cat in the garden + white floors equals round the clock mopping. Luckily I’ve just bought a retro galvanized steel bucket in Catford so it’s all very school-janitor chic.
3. Cracking open the first of my Diptyque fig scented candles, stockpiled through summer.
4. Going on a mission to find some plain velvet curtains in a charity shop, to keep down the chill winds that will blow through my rattly windows. I’m also planning to buy a Primark giant baby-grow to wear as my at-home outfit through winter, or possibly a 70s ski suit.
5. Making jams and preserves to see me through the winter months*
