The only theme is print
If yesterday’s post was a strictly cyber discovery, today’s is a fine example of some serious in-the-flesh roving reporting. I never feel the need to share my trade show findings here because you’re probably going to Dezeen for that. But, I’ve been mulling over all the textile lovelies I found last week and thought why the heck not show you? So, not grouped by trend, by theme, alphabetically, or in any other format, here’s a selection of printed things I saw and liked at Design Junction, Hay and Mint.
This quilt – I love the quilt – is by Rory Crichton, who appears to be have quite the swanky CV. The chair was designed for a hotel by Martin Boyce, David Mackenzie and Raymond MacDonald and all of it was presented under the banner of Goodd. Yeh, so, I can’t find a website for it.
Woven upholstery fabric by Wallace Sewell putting across the power of stripes.
The girl on the Zuzunaga stand was excellently chatty (one hour into the event, anyway) and their blankets were great.
Eleanor Pritchard launched upholstery fabric. Woven by Bute! Because that photo is a bit dodge, you can’t really tell that the fabric on the right chair has a darker panel at the front, which looked great.
I liked this Kilim chair at Mint, called El Santo Libre. It’s by Christophe de la Fontaine for Dante Goods and Bads, a brand whose website is quite mental.
High-end rustic blankets at The New Craftsmen by Cristina Riccabona.
And finally, this rug was one of many in a room out the back in the Hay house (but was not from Hay). I like the lilac and red together. It reminds me of Helena’s get up in the Prada film we once published. A clash worth considering in future.
A lovely selection of prints and for someone not able to make all the shows great to see.
Thank you
Thanks Charlene! See you soon. x
Oh Kilim chair how can I make you mine… aside from chair lust, I worked with Bute all the time and their fabrics are just marvelous, have a look at the tweeds. Nice people too, it’s a win win.
Were they nice? They seem nice. I am totally swayed by the fact that their location is cool.
Some great design ideas we’ll no doubt use with our designer. Thank You
