The New Craftsmen Garage

I’m banging on about natural, hand-made, touchy-feely things again. If, like me, you are being swept up in this trend, then head to The Garage pop up shop by The New Craftsmen, which opens friday 7 June. In a (Mayfair) garage, obviously. The New Craftsmen aims to highlight British craft skills in a high-end collection of new products – yes, you probably got that from the name. The upcoming shop will include new work by potter Billy Lloyd and weaver Catarina Riccabona (who we mentioned here before), alongside designs from the company’s existing collection, including the splendid Orkney Chair by Gareth Neal and Kevin Gauld. The idea is that you can commission pieces as well as buy what’s there.

Stylist Sue Skeen was charged with reworking the old garage space into this vision of rustic loveliness. I urge you to take a peek at her own house, which has the just the same mood.
