The mothership of vintage interiors books
I’ve found it, if you’re looking for it. IDEA Books sell themselves as “Superbooksellers” and if you’re into vintage coffee table books that straddle the worlds of art, fashion and interiors, you’ll agree with their description. It’s books on the latter that have been a particular delight on my instagram feed – they flit between the Real Reveal vibe and much grander looking World Of Interior-style places, sometimes throwing in a touch of classy celebrity too. That’s Cy Twombly below (top right) in lounging mode from Vogue Book of Houses, Gardens, People shot by Horst. It was published in 1968. And there’s Stephanie Seymour enjoying herself on a fierce animal (bottom left) in a Juergen Teller book.
My knowledge of vintage interiors books is skimpy, but I think many of these are quite rare. Definitely this tasty looking trio by David Hicks.
IDEA Books sell primarily through the swanksville that is Dover Street Market but if you follow them on Insta they always post an email address to contact for buying.
