Shopping news in North and South London
Shop news, shop news, come and get your shop news. I have two stories for you – one North of the river and one South (none outside London, sorry). The first is Andrea Bates’ shop Future & Found in Tuffnel Park, which is hosting special Marketplace shopping events some weekends over summer in the shop’s cute courtyard. The first was last weekend and looked like this.
Nice textiles there from designer/screen printer Gail Bryson and wooden spoons by Tessa Silva. Go to one of the events for a good excuse to check out the whole (recently moved) shop. It sells a good mix of works from established brands such as Hay among lesser known names. It also has a nice Peg Wall.
The next Marketplace is on the weekend of the 9th August and will include stock from Theo Theo among others. FYI Ros and I have both been coveting – and even buying – Theo Theo’s vintage Beer Steins, which look like this.
South of the river it’s all happening in…Nunhead.
This is Jo Toot-as-in-Foot Waterhouse’s new temporary shop, Our Shop, which she’s running with her friend Rosalie Schweiker. It looks crazy cute with all of the stock sourced or made by the duo – Jo did all those illustrations above, plus the fab yellow print below, which is one of a limited run.
She really does know a good chair when she sees one.
Our Shop is open wed-sun at 26 Nunhead Green. More details here.
