Shop: Dick’s Edinburgh
I was back in Edinburgh at the weekend, the town of my student years and first three flat shares – the first of which you can on our instagram. It’s Georgian and what a beauty. Imagine having to readjust expectations for renting in London on a journalist’s starting salary – HA. Anyway, while roaming the streets for my memories, we ended up going into great little boutique Dick’s in the New Town / Stockbridge area, which belongs to interiors photographer Uli Schade and her husband Andrew Dick. I commissioned Uli a few times during one of my magazine jobs and her eye for a brilliant shot was something much talked about in the office. Something that’s in evidence in her perfectly put together shop and stock too.
The focus is really menswear – brogues, Swedish raincoats, fair isle knits and plaid shirts that any discerning gent would want – but there are some great and unusual homeware bits too, all of it looking marvellous against grey plaster walls and wooden cabinetry.
Gorgeous eh?
Mmmm. Nice. I really want that watering can off the top shelf and maybe some of the candles from the bottom shelf.
