Scores on the doors
To be honest, the thought of painting woodwork is merely a distant dream at the moment, but some day, these stripped and filled doors are going to have to be taken to task.
I was just planning on white, but then a post on American blog My Favourite and My Best, has given me pause. Might a black door be worth considering? Or a dark grey?*
Oh, love the yellow furniture too.
Picture from Lonny Mag. I could live without the zebra head, in all honesty.
And yet feeling the falconry! I like the above, from Living Etc. Minus the silly side table and the brollies.
Maybe black’s a little too harsh? In which case what about these, from Farrow & Ball’s new colour collection?
But not this, below, despite that being my actual sofa. These Andrex-y colours together remind me of why one should only ever buy white loo roll.
Any thoughts or wisdom-of-experience type stuff on black/colourful paintwork gratefully received.
*Sweartogod, I’ll try and keep off the subject of grey paint colours on here, for a while at least.
I have just takenthe plunge & painted my staircase/skirtingboards in down pipe (F&B) which is a lovely lead coloured grey colour wasn’t sure til the first coat but love it now so I would say paint those doors dark!!
Thanks Rachelle. Earlier posts detail my grey fear, as I love the darks, but in this north facing room they can be a bit much. I have just looked at your blog, btw, and the project looks so exciting! Good luck.
I really love what appears to be an olive coloured door (in the zebra head photo). These dark colours are particularly suited to the vestibule area and look very classy. The silk sheen is the thing that does it for me!
Thank you. Yes classy was what I had in mind – although I wonder if it’s perhaps really best for an ‘apartment’ with high double doors and towering ceilings, rather than my – no doubt about it – flat.
Satin/eggshell white.
Hot pink? Aggressive mustard? Take a risk x
