Run out of rooms…
…so I’m taking the decorating obsession outside. Specifically, out front to the only bit of garden that’s south facing.
You know how in those movies set in the deep south people are out on the porch being all hot and sociable with a drink in hand and some jazz playing? Well that’s the inspiration. Minus the jazz obvs. That and an image on Wright & Doyle’s instagram involving some railway sleepers and nice looking stones with plants spilling over them – I recently interviewed those guys here and they’ve got great taste. The sleepers are used to divide things up a bit in a nice way. Here’s my stab at it….
The back garden’s bench is now out front so that G&T’s at 7pm are in the sunshine. We tried it once already and it wasn’t that hard to avoid catching the eyes of passers by. I’m probably going to add a bit more planting to help camouflage us though.
The railway sleepers were leftover from the back garden so in they’ve gone, a bit wobbly so. I’ve also added a lavender and a jasmine next to the bench so that the drinking spot is scented -could I have chosen a smaller jasmine? Next year for scent maybe. That new plant waiting to go in is bonkers, it’s called a Hesperaloe and I think it’s in the Aloe Vera family. It has great orangey-pink tall flowers at the moment.
I reckon a few more structural plants, some ball-shaped stuff and something to mask the abrupt end of that sleeper, then the stones maybe and it’s done. Our own little Frank’s at home.
What are you doing now the sun is sort of here?
Now, have you thought about a Gnome?
