Rubble valley…
…My garden that is. Yes, operation shed / garden makeover is underway and I’d say it’s less jungle more building site. Here it is, complete with broken-down small shed, the beginnings of our dismantling of the path and ghastly children’s toys…
Uh huh, the previous owners of this place thought it clever to have two sheds, the smaller of which we filled with old paints, tiles and general smash leftover from doing the house up. My Friend kindly relieved us of some of the tiles, but even she drew the line at the wallpapering kit and the grout. Here’s a wonky tear sheet I’ve been using as the inspiration behind the soon-to-be started new look…
My brilliant jeweller friend Hannah has devised a new simple layout that involves raised beds, some skinny decking and a lovely selection of plants, partly inspired by her own garden. Check out her blog for some shots of it (and her lovely work). Here’s a taster…
I am curious to know if you are planning on getting rid of the ‘ghastly’ children’s toys (I am assuming they too were left by the previous owners along with the grot – sorry grout)? I agree they are pretty hideous but if you were getting rid of them my 2yr and 5yr old boys would love them – they have no taste!
Hi Rebecca, I’m afraid despite my own snobbish ideas about how they look they are staying for now as they are appreciated by my son and his friends. But if we ever do decide to get rid of them I will be sure to let you know – actually a very generous neighbour passed them over when her children grew out of them, so it’d be nice to continue the chain of good will at some point.
Oh my apologies, I was trying to work out if they were ‘in use’ – but wasn’t too sure!
Will hopefully pick up some on freecycle or gumtree soon …. Looking forward to seeing your finished garden soon!
No problem at all, I like to think we have a bit of a recycling thing going on here. I already gained a lovely second-hand kid’s bed by publicly announcing I was on the hunt. Will definitely say when these toys are up for grabs. In the meantime, good luck on gumtree etc.
How exciting!! I am almost as excited to meet your new garden as I am the baby inside the bump!
