Rod, Jane and Freddy

…That’s what I always like to shout when more than two of us have come into work in stripey tops.

Rod Jane and Freddy

But what I’m really talking about is the interiors bain of summer – the nautical look. No matter whether you’ve got a Hamptons mansion or a bungalow in Frinton it always, to my mind, looks naff. And to prove the point, here it is in the bathroom of someone acclaimed as the last word in style. Guess who…

No, not Ellen MacArthur. It’s in fact Style Queen (deposed) Chloe Sevigny. Still not cool.

I prefer to imagine her house thusly.

So happy I stumbled upon this fab blog! I think the nautical look can go oh so wrong, oh so fast…I think the trick to making it work is by not going overboard (unintentional pun HA). Subtle touches like a navy striped pillow or a rope wrapped lamp base can work, that helm mirror on the other hand (in that space), is totally naff.

I think she’s seen one too many episodes of Popeye (circa 1983)… not something I would choose to wake up to in the morning, but hey, I guess its different!
