Taking time out from my Tokyo report to give a knee-jerk reaction to something I hate. Transport for London’s Travelcard Cushion will surely strike a chill into the heart of every Londoner.
It’s like having a gas bill-print cushion. This is the thing that symbolizes deadly daily routine, delays, overcrowding and expense. Who would want it printed huge on a cushion? Or am I just a grouch who needs to finally sign up for an oyster card?
Oooh but it’s got my birthday date on it! my 30th no less…hmmm, actually, yes, you’re right! What a depressing idea for a cushion…
Spoken like a true Londoner. A quirky coincidence, but there must be more aesthetically pleasing ways to commemorate your birthday.
8.30 off peak – shocking!
I think its quite cool!
And perfect for those with nostalgia (I no longer live in the UK)
If you’re not having to pay the – as Meshell says – shocking price of £8.30 to get around for a day I can see they might have some nostalgic attraction.
Thank you for promoting my hard work, and linking to the shop it can be purchased from. 🙂
Thanks Ashley. As you can see from the comments not all our readers are the tube-phobic miseries that I am. The lady living abroad got a warm nostaligic feeling from it. I’m afraid I just can’t while my handbag is full of the real thing. Thanks for commenting.
Of course – all feedback is much appreciated, positive or not so! he he
The cushion actually came as a result of trying to produce something fun out of my not-so-fun 12 hours a week on a train to London. Of course, when you’re in the heat of it, you’re not going to enjoy the reminder! 🙂
