Paul’s shed
By all accounts, Paul Smith is fashion’s (cycling nut) nice guy. I like to think you can somehow extract this sentiment from the incredibly lovely shed he put his name to for LDF14. It was exhibited in the garden at the V&A and was part of The Wish List project in collaboration with Sir Tel (Conran), Benchmark furniture and the American Hardwood Export Council. Ten big wigs from design and architecture were asked to nominate an emerging talent to collaborate with on this subject: “What have you always wanted in your home but never been able to find?” Sir Paul asked designer Nathalie de Leval for this.
Both sides of the shed were fully glazed in semi-mirrored glass and there was a desk just opposite this little seating area making it feel like the perfect writer’s room. Apparently PS worked on the interior design, which was pretty on the money I thought – I’d happily hole up here for days. It even smelt delicious.
Here are some images from Nathalie’s website, which show the shed in a more fitting setting and reveal a little of the collaboration process…
Nice eh?
