Home TV show of the year
Ha Ha! Did you see it? A gen-u-ine TV interiors joy. No, not Philippe Starck doing his best Alan Sugar. Not Kevin or Phil or Kirsty. I’m talking about Monday night’s episode of Mary Queen of Shops, featuring furniture shop Under The Moon. Run by hippies-in-aspic Dazzle and Denny (really), it was a horrific house of horrors – tarot-reader chic meets cut-price show home. Only not that nice. If you missed it, suggest you get over to the BBC i-player, and enjoy the tour of their own fabulously expressive house.
Anyway, Dazzle and Denny pulled it together in the end, with Mary’s strident help, but not before we’d had the fun of them being presented to Abigail Ahern, who was remorselessly polite despite being clearly mystified. And then a trip to the offices of Elle Deco, where the immaculate editor filled them in on what interiors trends they’d missed in the last 30 years. Want to see the end result?

Although, the box contained two chairs. Could it be a coincidence that my parents are planning a ‘working’ visit to help me wallpaper […]
Foldaway bookshop
Last week I went to the launch party of this cool pop-up foldaway bookshop by London design outfit Campaign. It’s taking over a small empty store on Heddon street as part of the London Festival of Architecture and the whole interior fit-out is made of recyclable cardboard – even the display table (below), which looked […]
My desk: Lisa Stickley
Where is your desk from? It’s a really old desk from some offices on Elizabeth Street, which were being cleared out when we moved into the shop. It creaks and groans a bit but has a perfect central drawer to hide my scanner. It has lots of lovely worn areas from age… I love it! […]
Secret garden
This morning I was hanging out the washing, in the sunshine, with the Antistylist sniffing the grass next to me. Yes, after two years on the first floor, happiness is a washing line and good weather. For friends overseas who want a better look at the flat I was going to put up some before […]
