One to watch: Katie Lenton
Just discovered the wonderful, moody work of print and furniture designer Katie Lenton, who describes what she does as ‘pushing the boundaries of the expected and designing for the customer who is seeking an alternative to the traditional.’ Mission accomplished – her chairs, fabrics and wallpapers feel really fresh. And that’s with a bird print in the collection. She also sells evocative drawings, which are inspired by the bones and jarred specimens at the Huntarian Museum and cost from £200 – £500.
Moulded suspended chairs – currently installation pieces – are printed prior to vacuum forming and the plan is that they could be manufactured with metal legs.
Her fabric (left) and wallpaper (right) designs are easy to imagine working into your home (done) and the greeney colour in the bird print reminds me of the new grey.
Katie is currently in talks with two retailers about distributing her work, but in the meantime you can order through her. See her work in the flesh at The King & The Minotaur until 30 April.
