On painting

Here’s a hint. If you are going to paint a great big tall set of shelves, don’t do it in an attic room. Let my four head-bumpings, umpteen sweary outbreaks and incident with a sock in the paint lid be a lesson to us all. The last, admittedly, being unrelated to height issues. So anyway, I’m doing a little decorating project and here it is.

Before & After shelves By the power of Fired Earth’s Carbon Blue, let these clunky shelves be transformed into a lovely linens chest. I’m only one paint coat in, but the plan is to also add a brass curtain rail and a Scandi-fabulous fabric curtain to keep the dust off the linens.

Though, after getting Elle Deco in and seeing this…

I’m tempted to stop at the paint job. What do you think?

That blue is absolutely wonderful – I’d never seen it before. Now I have to prowl around my house this afternoon and wonder what I could paint with it (not in an attic room, and not with any socks around).

HA, yes. It is nice actually, not quite as teal as the Elle Deco feature, a bit more grey but definitely blue.

Ooh, great colour! Love the depth of the blue. Nice bookcase/new linen chest too.

p.s. I have had similar incidents with painting furniture – I once dipped my sleeve into a paint pot. I wasn’t in a loft room, so I don’t even have an excuse…
