New collection: black ceramics

I know. I’m always harping on about something I want and that’s pretty ugly. So I’ll mask my next shopping agenda in an artistic context to make it more becoming. You may remember there’s a high shelf in my living room, which is home to a collection of white ceramics. It was originally inspired by this work by Jonathan Wade.

When I’m in that room I’m forever looking across to the green room’s mantelpiece and thinking about a black version to echo the white. Ying and yang and that. There’s a chazza-shop-bought Wedgewood pot on there already looking moody with the black mirror. It just needs company.

The artist whose work would get such a thing started off  nicely is Akiko Hirai whose pieces were on the Flow stand at Collect over the weekend.

Yeh it wasn’t lost on me that a few of those almost-white bottles wouldn’t go amiss in the original collection too.
