Shoe offs
Not to get off on the wrong foot this year, if you’ll pardon the pun, but while warming up to the idea of engaging with life again, just wanted to mention a thing that’s annoying me in house features of late.
The shoe-room shot. The walk-inwardrobe boast. There isn’t really anything super about seeing rows of someone’s shoes is there? Or am I just grumpy about being back to work?
Travesty.
Crass! People with too many shoes don’t got enough soul (not a bad pun eh?). I think maybe browsing InStyle is never going to cheer anyone up.
Yes, or even re-browsing it via The Daily Mail. Fantastic pun. Also, loving the is-it-a-flower-or-head shot over on Toot.
Conspicuous consumption as a substitute for fashion sense? All I see is a big bill from the podiatrist. Those are some HIGH heels.
I don’t have any criticisms about the shoes themselves – I used to be something of a shoe whore myself until I found something else to spend my disposable income on.
But if I’m not on a fashion site, I don’t want to see your shoe closets and your walk in wardrobes. I was on a design site yesterday (which shall not be named) and the home tour of the day featured a woman whose home and design sense wasn’t fully developed yet, but whose walk-in (including shoe closet) was fantastic – and more than half of the photos were either of said closet, of her lounging in said closet or her draped over a chair in her under-developed living room with clashy, cheap looking and ill-hung curtains. *meow*
Anyway – I’m sick of the closet shots and I’m really annoyed by people who feel the need to insert themselves in their home tour.
Mixed feelings. I sort of enjoy this stuff, but enough shoes already. I was thinking of doing a spoof post a la Closet Visit, with our Primark dresses draped over stuff looking pretentious
Totally agree! And the shoe owner always poses with a faux-cute / real-smug look as if to say: ‘now, how did that happen to little ol’ me???’!!!!
