My Desk: Jane Kellock
Jane Kellock from The Womens Room
Where is your desk from?
Boringly it’s from Ikea, but I wanted a big white desk and it does the job.
What do you like to have around you for inspiration and reference?
I love anything colourful, quirky, vintage and eccentric. I also have lots of bits I have picked up from around the world.
What’s on your desk – and how about those jars?
I have piles of magazines and books and jars of bits of colour. I am a colour and trend forecaster for the fashion and interiors industry and need bits of colour for inspiration and to make colour palettes.
Do you have any favourite stationery and pencils you like to keep handy?
I have a jar of spotty pencils (I love polka dots) loads of different notebooks and a silver Tiffany pen that I was given at a blogging event in a goodie bag, but I daren’t use it in case I loose it.
Have you found a good chair?
Sadly the chair is also from Ikea, I’m so un original. But price and practicality were big factors in choosing my office furniture. No point in something that looks fab, but gives you back ache!!
Do you have a view from your desk?
Of a brick wall and if I stand up I can see my tomato and courgette plants.
A favourite mug?
A red and white spotted mug (again) from the Walking in my Mind Exhibition at the Hayward last year. I love Yayoi Kusama’s work!
Do you keep your workspace tidy?
It either looks like a bomb has hit it or is freakily tidy (in my mind). My husband thinks I am hideously untidy and surreptitiously tidies it whenever he uses the computer. He even cleans up my desktop – I think that’s grounds for divorce!
What are you working on at the moment?
I am putting together A/W 2011 colours palettes and starting to think about S/S2011/12. I also co-write TWR blog with Amanda’s so do that every other day – it’s an ongoing work in progress.
