Mandles
Continuing the cutting edge work of Gents’ Week we had to bring you news of the latest trend in masculine homewares. Yes, it’s the Man Candle, or as we’re of course calling it, the Mandle.
When I worked at an interiors magazine a real highlight was the Yankee Candle company sending us scratch and sniff press releases on new candle fragrances. So I can only imagine the swooning in that all-female environment at the unleashing of their new men’s range. Choose from 2 x 4, essentially the smell of grudgingly undertaken DIY, but described by Yankee Candle as “the warm, unmistakable scent of freshly planed wood and sawdust evoking a sense of confidence and quality.”
Afraid of power tools? A lover, not a carpenter? Then maybe Man Town is more your style. “Escape to the man cave with this masculine blend of spices, woods and musk.” Please do.
What do you think? Is this what the man in your life has been crying out for? I consulted the nearest available man and his favourite was Riding Mower. Everyone likes cut grass, hey? Are there any scents you suggest they add to the range?

You know, I think it’s the Yankee Candle sratch-and-sniff press releases I miss most about the Ship of Dreams. Oh, those heady days!
