Lockerz for linens
There’s an awkward bit in my house that is also the best place for a linen chest – something I needed after my previous one became a wardrobe for my daughter last year. It’s the upstairs landing, just outside the bathroom. I’ve tried to capture its shapely appeal here .
Those angles. Finding a rug for it is also an ongoing nuisance.*
The linen cupboard had to be tall and slim enough for us to walk past to the room behind and I’d almost given up on finding anything, until a random visit to Berhamsted, and the shop Home and Colonial, led to this purchase.
I’m told it’s an old Victorian locker from Belgium. I’m feeling it needs a new handle.
The anti-stylist’s stand in, by the way, moved with real purpose into shot before perfecting her huffy face when she heard the camera click.
Here’s a close up of the inside. Everyone loves a towel shot, no?
I was also thinking the cupboard might want a lick of grey paint or something, but actually I’m quite digging its less fashionable dingy wood.
* Maybe Conran’s Gradient if it’s nice in the flesh.
I like the “Blossom Rug” from the M&S range. Your cupboard looks great there.
Thanks Helene, it also contains our quite small collection of boringly white towels, which is what I love best about it.
I like the wood, don’t paint it, you’ll loose the rustic feel that is somehow cosy
