Lilly’s Lightbox Company
London-based Berliner Felicia Strehmel makes lighboxes out of reclaimed chests of drawers with photo slides of her own manipulated images. On her website, she states that she’s an amateur photographer, but in the context of her work this seems irrelevant – it’s inventive upcycling and great affordable art.
This one pairs a 1940’s oak drawer with an image of an east German 1950’s Pete vintage tube radio. I don’t know what that is either, but it’s a nice looking radio.
This one is a collage of Berlin street graffiti in a 1930’s drawer.
And this one is my favourite.
All of the lightboxes are handmade and cleverly detailed – some are restored, some are left as is and many have their original handles still intact on the sides. They also have those great vintage twisted light cords.
