Kid’s bed dilemma
Let me start with an alert to all non-parents, this post may send you into a coma. You probably got from the pithy title that I’m on the hunt for a bed for my son’s bedroom. Here’s a general impression of the room just now, avec cot.
I admit it, I did stand that dinosaur up especially for the picture…
Here’s the bed I’d buy if I lived in the States, where it’s from, and didn’t think £550 was too steep for a kid’s bed.
I like the grey and I always go a bit wild for plywood. But, it’s not to be. So I’ve been frequenting the blog of super-stylist – and good friend of My Friend’s House – Poppy Norton to look at her bed suggestions. Ms Norton was the inspiration behind my Mini Moderns wallpaper choice so I trust her judgement. Go look at her blog, especially if you have a baby or need to buy someone a baby present.
In the end it’s probably going to be an Ikea or Habitat job – maybe this one. But I’ll be mulling it over for a few more weeks while my beloved offspring shows up at my door every morning.
oooh you big sweet talker – what can I say….your best post so far (thanks so much for you oooh too kind words).
On a more serious note, the Baby Style File has covered junior beds (see….http://tinyurl.com/2w5rwqt) also got a great selection of bedding too.
But…if you can’t find what you’re after, Baby Style File takes requests!
xx
Message for jill or blog colleagues, I have a lovely habitat bethan grey designed bed for sale? Live in Dulwich nr the college……just in case it’s of interest!
Regards
Sarah
Hi Sarah, that is of interest! I’ll drop you an email about it, but thanks for letting me know.
Just incase you are considering the addition of a second poppet to your household, you may want to take a peek at the bunkcot we stock, which takes up the same space as one cot, but can be used as two cots, two junior beds or one cot and one junior bed. Its very stylish!
That is one very stylish kids’ bedroom. Love the book covers on the wall – I had that exact copy of Dr Doolittle as a child (in fact, thanks to my parents the hoarders, I think I still do). Children’s beds are so tricky aren’t they – I’m struggling with the “to bunk or not to bunk” question myself at the moment. I’m sure whatever you choose will look great – how could it not given the room it’s going in?
Well thank you for the helpful and nice comments. Julie B, you’re not the first person to spot that book cover as something from the old childhood collection. Lovely isn’t it?
My Friend, did I tell you I was kept in my cot so long I actually asked for a bed for my birthday? True
Repect to your Mother. This puts a whole new spin on my dilemma.
I don’t know what that thing is with the dinosaur in it – but I love it!
Hello Conversation Pieces, it’s a skull cave by very cool designers called Our Children’s Gorilla. I probably love it more than my son does in all honesty, but thinking it’ll be a grower.
Hi! I realise that this post is one year old. but, where did you find the Scull cave? I really want one for my kid 🙂 and now it seems it is no longer in Childrens Gorilla webshop.
hope you can help me find one.
Hey Mari. My co-blogger and owner of the cave is on maternity leave right now, so this is from my own research. There is an American website, Dadababyboutique, which seems to be selling them.
Or, why not get in touch with our good friend Baby Style File – her whole site is dedicated to cool design for kids and she may well know of a supplier.
Hi, it is the reading half of MFH who bought the cave, I think from Thorsten Van Elten, but it was a while back and they don’t seem to be selling it anymore. Maybe you could contact the designers / manufacturers direct…http://www.ourchildrensgorilla.com/.
