High gloss brights – trend?
I like to think so because I’ve just done this to my son’s old bedroom.
What’s misleading about that photo is that the cupboards take up a really long wall – the whole wall – of the room. A giant shiny wall of blue. It’s pretty out there. I’ve decided I’m definitely on board with the gloss – it really does bounce light around as they say it should. The blue I like, but does it work with the rest of the room?
Here’s how the rest of the room looked- and still basically looks – when we first put it together all the way back when my first born was just born (aw).
The wallpaper is still there and once I’ve got the whole room in shape I’ll show you it alongside giant shiny blue wall so you can see for yourselves whether the two elements actually work together. I’m worried the two elements don’t work together! Did I mention that?
My original plan was to paint the cupboards black, like many of the details in the image above – it looks good with that wallpaper. But after the carpenter had build all the storage and the room had narrowed in, so much black just didn’t feel like the right course of action especially next to the nice white line drawings of the paper print. No, in your face shiny blue (F&B’s St Giles) somehow did. I’ve never made such a snap decorating decision in my life.
The next thing to happen is that my son is moving into my old titchy home office – the one I plan on decorating with shapes on the floor, mentioned back here. Full plans to be disclosed very soon.
I love that colour!
i love the blue and the wallpaper but I agree.. slightly different vibe between the 2?
I’m struggling at the moment with all the various things going on in my house too as I keep thinking things don’t go together and that worries me!
maybe live with it for a bit as i often find that helps
1. because you realise it works really well
2. or because i can’t be bothered to change it !!!!
