Great wall of China
As discussed previously we love Chinese calenders. The simple, graphic number, usually in one colour and the whisper-thin paper are endlessly appealing. Here’s mine:
Here’s Her’s:
But I just saw this great idea for an different way of displaying one, from the Guardian, and I’m tempted.
Yes, pleasingly, people often ask me where mine came from, and it’s here, Guanghwa in China Town, London. Just add wallpaper paste. Melon optional.
Once I bought a Japanese calendar, very similar to these Chinese calendars. Yes, often I would forget to change the date.
Too bad they don’t make versions for English-speaking countries (or maybe they do; I don’t know). What I love is that there is so much information! The lunar calendar (if you can read it) gives the phase of the moon. “Yin” and “yang” days (if you can make them out) alternate, making it easy to plan something “every other day”, or “once every two weeks”.
Now, I just make my own, paper calendars, with the information I want.
