Get real stylists

Belted magazines? Do I like this or is it just a notch too far? I find it whimsical in the extreme, but then maybe it would be nice to make a feature of all those Guardian Weekend magazines that are gathering dust until the day I cut that thing out of them.

Magazine storage ideas

What do you reckon? Trend or twee nonsense? Or both?

    The puns are brilliant 🙂

I’ll be honest the belted newspaper magazines are a new accessory to me. They do have a particular character about them but as the years go by won’t they get tatty and horrid like newspapers do? I guess it depends on where there kept but most likely a trend in my opinion.

I do however love the wooden furnishings and complementary wall paper.

Twee nonsence, definately, unless you want to make a feature of your O.C.D.

Nonsense. Waste of a good belt!

ah see now I’ve seen this done before and it’s actually a version/homage/copy of some strapping that turns magazines into furniture….highly practical if you want to sit somewhere and have spent your entire furniture budget on pricey interiors magazines.

Ah, the meta meaning of the belted mag – thanks. I meant no disrespect to your profession x

(although the placement of the buckle worries me somewhat, seems a bit uncomfortable!)

    Nonsense no doubt.

When I read “belted magazines” I thought you were referring to the paper/card wrap around some mags sometimes rather than plastic bags, things to prevent us having a peek inside before we buy. These belts look just plain silly. What’s wrong with good old string or garden twine if one wants a real retro look?
Speaking of silly, what’s all this with flowers now always being shown in old fashioned printed milk bottles? Is this the 2012 equivalent of the four green apples on a white plate of a few years ago?
By the way, this is the first time I’ve looked in … my attention drawn to your blog via Homes & Antiques magazine [50 Best Blogs 2012] in the current August issue.

Thanks for checking in Margaret and for letting us know about the blog list – that’s excellent news. I’m now wondering when the old apples on a white plate trick is going to make its comeback. You might enjoy this website http://fuckyournoguchicoffeetable.tumblr.com/ for calling out on all sorts of (smug) house styling tricks.
