Foldaway bookshop
Last week I went to the launch party of this cool pop-up foldaway bookshop by London design outfit Campaign. It’s taking over a small empty store on Heddon street as part of the London Festival of Architecture and the whole interior fit-out is made of recyclable cardboard – even the display table (below), which looked amazing. The shelves run right around the edges of the room, and really seem to be fold away-able judging by the ends, which slightly bunch by the door concertina-style.
The books for sale include a lot of weighty architecture titles as well as some (non-architecture) classics and vintage editions (eg Raymond Chandler) and lovely hand-made books. You can even buy those giant paperclips, which work as hooks – though it’s hard to tell from this picture.
Definitely worth popping in if you’re passing by this way. Find out here about the various talks and events going on at the store until it closes on sunday 4 July.
