Flea frenzy

We’ve got some half priced cracked ice
And miles and miles of carpet tiles
TV’s, deep freeze and David Bowie LP’s
Pool games, gold chains, wosnames
And at a push
Some Trevor Francis tracksuits…

Decorator’s Notebook and I have just returned from a great weekend of bargain hunting in Lille’s city-wide car boot sale, La Braderie. So it was more John Travolta LPs, but you get the idea. Everything that can be stored for years in le garage and le attic were laid out on trestle tables and blankets and sold in the city’s streets for mere Euros. Here’s some of the things we didn’t buy…

Back later in the week with some atmosphere shots and details of what I bought from this lot:

But for now I’ll just inform you that Only Fools and Horses in French, according to Google translate is “Seuls les imbéciles et les chevaux.”

Go! I did it in a day last year and it’s well worth the Eurostar ticket. Get booked up early though so start planning a trip early. Thanks for commenting.

[…] My friend and I had a fantastic weekend hunting for treasure at La Braderie in Lille – Europe’s biggest flea market! The was so much to see, so much to buy and we came away with some great goodies. Photos of what I bought will have to wait until this weekend (it’s too dark for photos when I get home from work now, sob). In the meantime here’s a selection of photographic loveliness to set the scene. […]
