Dungeness by night
I have been to Dungeness before, on an early morning eBay errand to collect a 50s Danish desk. I sat in the cafe at the end of the shingle spit feeling melancholy. It’s that sort of place. But this glorious weekend just gone, I was passing Dungeness again at twilight.
Being in this already extraordinary place as night fell, warm and still, was a special treat. The little wooden houses were smarter than I remembered. Perhaps new owners had taken inspiration from Derek Jarman’s immaculate black cottage.
But the thing that was most striking was the power station, lit up and glowing pink as the sun went. It sounds horrible, something grossly industrial overshadowing this national nature reserve. But it wasn’t. It was magical too.
really amazing photos…
Makes me want to go there now. Great pics
Wow, these are brilliant images! I especially like the 2nd one down, it’s very evocative.
Hi, great photos is it possible to pin them onto pinterest especially Derek Jarman’s cottage and last two pics? Thanks
Hi Liz, thanks for your comment. The power station is up and the other two are en route…
The second photo is like taken from another world, more like a drawing than a picture, I mean I look at it over and over and don’t get bored, very unique.
