Doopo Doopo
A big up to the massive Polish readership of My Friend’s House today, via Forest Hill. I am no longer a resident of The Hills, but I called in last week to visit a baby, and took a turn around a new shop-gallery, DoopoDoopo. I even made a purchase of this lovely wycinanki cushion (that’s Polish paper cutting to you). Crumpled bedlinen, stylist’s own.
This cushion is by Gaul Deco, displaying one of their many traditional Polish textile designs – they even do bean bags if you’re a fan of floor-level folk art. It was part of the current display at DoopoDoopo, which the charming Polish manager told me changes every month or so. They even have meet-the-artist evenings and an ‘artsy clothes swap’ night. They make their own fun in The Hills. I recommend a visit.
As you say, delightful. It has a kind of retro seventies feel without any depressing orange and brown.
Brilliant! Nothing beats ‘wycinanki’. We had to do it at school:)). Bests Monika
