Diary of a mad person part 1

Pessimistically, I felt the need to add Part 1 to the title of this blog. Yes, it’s the curtain bore again. My living room saga has taken me from ‘rustic linen look’, to scary Grayson Perry, to velvets – yes, My Friend, I’m daring to consider following where you have already tread – and all the way back to darned birds. Here’s a snap of only some of the samples I’m starting to hoard in the house. Soon I’ll be building walls out of them and having to tunnel my way to the kitchen.

My Friends House curtain swatches What I’d give for some continuity there. But, I’m heartened to learn I am not alone in this madness. A friend texted the other day to ask if she could swing by to look at – ironically – my living room blinds. She arrived with a folder full of swatches and left with no obvious answers. I drove past her house two days later and saw her at a window with a shadowy figure measuring up the windows and I laughed out loud.

What trivial drivel is keeping you busy this winter?

I completely understand the curtain dilemma!
I think it’s much easier if you don’t have to consult with anyone (my other half seems to hate any pattern and dares to have an opinion!!) and everything else is white.

I think you should go for the birds.

I like the birds too. The dark velvets are lovely but do remind me of the old joke, “Do you want to buy a battle ship?” “What colour is it?”!

Thanks Sarah D and Helene. Really the last thing my house needs is another bird, but it is lovely – the price not so much.

I like the birds too but the velvet could be fabulous with a contrast lining or header. Less battle ship more sumptious. GG

GG I love your thinking. I’ve been obsessing about what colour the contrast lining could be since reading this idea. Hmmmmm
