Designer mantelpieces
Admittedly this is an exhibition we have all missed – finishing last November – but I still enjoyed seeing the images from The Mantelpiece exhibition, which took place at the Bath school of Art & Design. Kerry Curtis, Head of Fashion, Textiles, and Three Dimensional Design at the school, curated the show asking 24 designers, including Tracy Kendall and Donna Wilson, to display their collections and inspirations on individual mantelpieces (she also compiled her own). The results are fascinating and totally different.

The mantelpieces themselves are really lovely don’t you think? And you can read Q&A’s with each designer involved here. What would you put on yours?
Great mantlepiece, I want it. I’d display my favourite packaging in the kitchen or my collection of vintage tea cups or pictures and cards from travelling. I definitely need more than one mantlepiece! GG
Yes, I wonder how hard it was for the designers to edit down their things to just one. x
None of them are quite as good as our ‘prize marrow wearing a blonde wig’ – way ahead of it’s time x
I’d forgotten that lovely centrepiece. I should try and get a picture of it from the Third Man and post it in the gallery. Thanks for commenting x
