Dammit!
Depressing Channel 4 show Joy of Teen Sex stole my kitchen wallpaper.
I thought seeing wallpaper I really liked gracing the changing rooms of River Island or some such was the worst thing that could happen, but it forming the backdrop for some faux-counseling session for whey-faced teens really is the final straw. It’s like seeing Gillian McKeith scooting about in that new dress you were so proud of. Harumph…
It’s still gorgeous though – and pretty soon the programme will be forgotten and you’ll still have a beautiful wall.
Sarah’s comment is SOOOOOO true, but I totally get what you mean… I hate it when that happens!
Thanks Sarah and LadyJustine,
yes and I think Cole & Son wallpapers suffer from it especially. Never want to see their Woods wallpaper ever again. x
haha I love it!! well, that doesn’t mean that the wallpaper is not gorgeous anymore, simply ignore this and keep enjoying it!!
If it makes you feel any better, I *think* this was filmed in one of my favourite ever location houses, The Roost (www.theroost.co.uk) – I can’t see an image of this room but think one of the rooms has been redeco’d in this (for a split second I was about to do a google image search on ‘joy of teen sex’ to see some other shots until I realised that would probably have been a Very Very Bad Idea) . It’s an amazing space and has many lovely rooms throughout so you are in good company there. During the late 90’s I owned a ‘designer’ beaded curtain that was later spotted in Billy Mitchell’s flat on Eastenders, if that helps x
Thanks Joanna and Margarita. I do feel better. Re Eastenders, years ago the Guardian did a wonderful interview with the set designers all about the character’s homes. Including the choice of the odd brick-wall wallpaper they had in the B&B. Bits of the article seem to still exist here:
