Colour inspirations
Colour is such a personal thing. People will tell you they hate certain shades that you love and vice versa. You can be halted in your tracks over the strangest of sights, purely because of the colour or – more often for me – colour combination. Sometimes you think something will transfer easily into your home, onto a wall and you might think about it for a long time first, but still have to concede after you’ve tried it out, that it looks pretty awful.
I find that certain sights linger in my mind and continually feed into what I want to do with my house, work and the way I dress. The image below, pinned at random this week, is probably going to be one of those.
It’s not ‘on trend’, which I love. I find it stirring though, probably because of the tonal variations and texture of the ceramics and the fabric they’re placed with. The deep aubergine purple took me back to some images of an old Moroso collection (2007 I think) that I rediscovered the other day when I was clearing out my shelves. To be honest, it’s really the two tables in the top right corner that I always remember.
When we were doing up this house I considered throwing a bit of aubergine and lipstick red on my kitchen walls – colour blocking style – but, after weeks and weeks of thinking about it, I decided it was a passing fancy. Which is funny, because later on this happened.
Do you have any old images that continue to strike a chord?

so agree. And absolutely love that colour combination you have just posted
Thanks Anna, I just checked out your own website and can see you know what you’re talking about – lovely work. Thanks for commenting.
I think colour, like style is a very personal thing. I would never suggest painting a room just because a colour is en vogue at that time – you’d be forever re-painting as trends come and go all the time. Colour that inspires you and makes an impression will have a lasting affect and will let your individuality stand out. The red feature table and vases make for a fabulous feature of what would otherwise have been a difficult corner to dress :O)
So agree that colour and style is a personal thing! Also, what might suit a neighbours home might not necessarily suit your own when transferred as I have learnt! Great post and very inspiring to think outside the ‘trend’ box!
