Christmas pop-up shops
So, just how energetic are you feeling about buying your Christmas presents this year? Because according to my inbox there are many fairs and pop-up shops for you to hoof it to, just so you can tell the recipients of your (mainly craft-based) gifts that you, ‘got it at a place that was only open for four days, didn’t you hear about it?’
In back-to-front order, here are my picks starting with The Temporium on Brompton Road, open 9-19 December.
How about that Studio Toogood camera case handbag, top right?
If you’re in west London you may as well go a bit further north to The Dock Christmas Market outside Tom Dixon’s shop, 16-19 Dec.
While in a few week’s time there is the always good Cockpit Arts open studios at Holborn, 26-28 Nov, and Deptford, 3-5 December. The latter, including ceramicist Jonathan Wade’s work…
Just around the corner from Holborn Cockpit is Made in Clerkenwell, the open studios at Craft Central, 25-28 Nov.
Finally, for those who actually plan a month ahead there’s Cavaliero Finn in South London this weekend, selling works from a surprising number of names given that it’s hosted in a house-cum-gallery. Including Claire Coles, below.
Love love love Claire Coles. Once wanted to use her stuff for an interior many years ago, so she sent me a couple of LOVELY samples, beautiful stitched birds, which promptly went on a sample board and are festering away in some clients mouldering basement unappreciated and unloved. Still galls me to this day. A couple of those tea cups may have to suffice instead…
Would they survive living in the same house as old hamfists MacHamfists though? Think of the poor soap dish…
Thank you so much for featuring our show on your blog. Here’s a link to our ebulletin which will give you a peak at what we’re showing this time round. http://www.cavalierofinn.com/ebulletin_nov10.htm
