Brixton East (by night)
It’s all go in Brixton just now. Not two minutes after blogging about Brixton Village, My Friends House was invited to a party just along the road from it, at Brixton East. It’s Andy Luckett’s warehouse-turned-temporary furniture shop, which is open every weekend (fridays-sundays) until Christmas eve. Andy was in attendance at the party last night, resplendent in his Christmas jumper.
He used to buy antiques for Cath Kidston and lives upstairs from the shop in what our host told us is quite a fabulous flat. You can imagine since the stuff he is selling is a great mix of one-off 50’s kitchen cabinets, kids desks, great old signs and vintage fabrics.
That desk is only £95.
The warehouse, built in 1871 is a splendid spectacle in itself. Come the new year the shop will be transformed into something new, so get yourself down there quick.
Brixton East is at 100 Barrington Road , SW9.
What a fabulous place, shame I am 8 hours away!
Oh NO I want to cry, I was invited to come along last night and have to stay at home with a terrible cold, shit I missed it, would have loved to be there rater than at home feeling sorry for myself. i will pop around after xmas, he is got amazing stuff!
Or go before, I think he shuts afterwards. Sorry we missed you last night. x
Bit of a find this, thanks. I’m in London this weekend and I think I may have to pay it a visit.
Yeah. I’m with Trish. It’s just the sort of place I love but it’s too far away. Do I see a replacement for the broken veg tureen sitting on the kitchen cabinet by the way? You might be glad of that come Christmas dinner, my friend.
I’ve been to Brixton East during the day, it’s fantastic! And Andy is lovely. So pleased that all this good stuff is going on in Brixton.
I saw your lovely post on it just before finding out about the party (all very confusing). Brixton is happening.
