Bright ize
Despite having finished any such detailing in this house, I’ve become fixated on door handles. Specifically, super dooper ones by specialist company ize. Here’s one of the company’s newest collections by stylist Faye Toogood of Studio Toogood: On the left, the Sticks and Stones and Broken Bones collection and on the right a door knocker cast from a fox’s skull. Wowee.

ize was set up ten years ago, by the FT’s architecture critic Edwin Heathcote and ironmonger Dave Bradshaw, to provide architects with an outlet for creating door handles to perfectly fit the buildings they’d designed. The current line-up of collaborators includes Zaha Hadid and David Adjaye as well as names from the broader design world – Sebastian Bergne, Kenneth Grange, Peter Saville and Terence Woodgate. The latter’s range shown below (mmmm bronze)…

You can also buy classic modernist designs (Gio Ponti, Adolf Loos) that would look tickety boo with those Heath Ceramics door tiles.
Bronze is SO coming back!
