Bits and bobs of things to do
Hey, sorry for the random wordless posting yesterday. It was sad news and I’d spent the morning immersed in Bowie tributes and well, that video is brilliant in its mood, colours and Tilda-ishness. Instagram/Facebook/The world has been awash with Bowie tributes, but my friend found the image that nobody else seems to have shared. She entitled her email about it Wowie Bowie, and pointed out that as a lifelong fan she meant no disrespect, which is the same sentiment I offer here whilst urging you to check it out.
Anyway, today’s post is a few odd shares of things to read and do.
1. Ros and I worked out we’ve been writing for Farrow & Ball’s site The Chromologist for nearly two years now. That’ll be 144 features each! At the end of every month we proof read each other’s work and I still love seeing what Ros has done for her six features. Check out the site, especially if you’re into art and decorating dilemmas with a colour angle. This is Ros’s latest:
2. I’ve been directing my consumer urges in the direction of art books (and mags) lately. Some to recommend: Riposte magazine, which comes in the same spirit as The Gentlewoman (below is an old issue), a book about Nathalie Du Pasquier’s drawings and a 1990’s book of polaroids of artists’ living rooms shot by Dominique Nabokov, which feels very now and is basically real reveals of cool people’s front rooms.
3. I just discovered Slutever and aside from developing a mild paranoia of contracting BV, this has turned out to be a good thing.
4. I went to see the Radical Disco exhibition (which was super tiny) at the ICA and remembered how nice a venue it is. The Bloomberg New Contemporaries was good and included a piece by a Norwegian artist about a naked girl stuck in a tree in ropes, which my daughter (4) was very taken with. But here’s a picture of the great lino floor there.
5. Last sunday also included a trip to the Whitechapel Gallery, which had a similarly nice atmos. As well as the Kibbo Kift, there’s an exhibition about Arab art on just now that shows the contemporary side of the culture. This is Palestinian artist Kamal Boullata’s work sporting a fine colour-clash.
I’ve stopped drinking this month, can you tell? #energy
Love those pics! Colour in an orderly factory environment, fab!
Thanks for this – yes must get myself (and Mr) along to the ICA – been too long. Re consumer urges/Bowie, we were thinking this morning how amazing it would be to get hold of a copy of the Nat Tate biography (there was a great article in the Guardian about it by William Boyd)
