Big florals – hit or miss?
From July’s Living Etc., I fear that this might be a taste of things to come.* I hate the clashes of the puny wallpaper and the big rose sofa, and plus why the school lockers, other than to stop you thinking it’s your Nan’s house?
Does the fact I don’t like this – similar to the House of Hackney hogwash – mean I’m about to be left behind by an interiors trend? Like one of those people forever stuck in their sartorial heyday, will I cling to Danish furniture and grey walls forever? Or am I just right? In other words…
…trend, or travesty?

Do you think anyone has ever sat in Room 2 and had a laugh? It looks like they have to take it turns to speak from their uncomfortable, prim and serious ‘perches’, maybe for light philosophical discussion but never to laugh. Unless it’s organised.
Oh, a room for some kind of creepy laughing therapy maybe? I do know that when I used to buy Elle Dec in the late 90s this kind of thing was all over the place – the Orientalism and the turquoise. I don’t want to go back.
OK in small doses but that set-up from Living Etc is hideous. Yuck. Definitely a miss.
Thanks for the vindication. ‘Yuck’ it is.
