Bedroom stories
I rented flats from the age of 17 until I was 3o. Living in – and trying to personalise – eight bedrooms in total. So Olivia Howitt’s blog, What’s In Your Bedroom, stirs memories. Her subjects are often in flatshares, where their bedrooms are the only place for a bit of personal expression.
To be honest, none of my rooms looked as nice as Jorge’s. I must have been saving all my energy for this never-ending project of a home.
Olivia came up with the blog idea when she heard about a girl whose bedroom was filled with bicycles. She never saw the room, but it inspired her to explore the mutil-functional bedrooms of space-squeezed cities like London.
Nice to see she raised a few smiles in the process.
Olivia’s blog is fantastic, thank you for sharing! Off to lose myself for a few hours in it – so refreshing to see rooms full of real things, collected by real people, rather than the sterile feel of painstakingly coordinated ornaments that tell you nothing about a person. (Plus, it makes me feel more justified about all my lovely clutter that I can’t part with…)
