Alpine style
Okay, so I should say right away that the rural Austria I visited was not a destination for cutting-edge design. The Austrians know how to do a good swimming pool though. This was in the basement of our hotel in Kitzbuhel. All concrete and polished metal with skylights showing glimpses of the street above. It rained while we were there, so we got full enjoyment out of this pool. Look how empty it is! Everyone else was off hiking in the rain (I have to admit, that does look like sunshine reflected in the pool there).
As mentioned, Austria is also at the forefront of the log stacking movement. Bottom right is an artist’s studio.
As for shops, we were in the Alps and it was mostly chi-chi ski-wear and delicious food halls. We did pass this Classic car place in the middle of nowheresville, which even as one totally disinterested in cars, I found to be nice looking. Love a good tin display…
Onto some, ahem, decorating ideas from our hotel (left) and the local shop. My Friend, I thought of you with every stag trophy we saw.
Finally, business cards and the post box outside a very nice – but shut – jeweller’s shop in the Bavarian village of Oberammergau.
I want to live in a log stacked building, I do I do I do!
You want the photo of the rams too, don’t you? Go on, you can say, you’re among friends.
…..well I do like sheep in fancy dress! nice post box too!
