A seat in the sun
Ahhhhh. Hasn’t it been lovely? And just in time for the super weather my Mom sent me an early birthday present. A complete surprise, but just, it turned out, what I needed. Although, the box contained two chairs. Could it be a coincidence that my parents are planning a ‘working’ visit to help me wallpaper in a couple of weekends time? Just call me Columbo.
I then had a bit of a scout around to see what other lovely deck chairs were on sale, and I found them a bit thin on the ground. Apart from these, two of four typically lovely designs from Thornback & Peel.
But I did bump into this. Deck chairs meet public art, for London’s Royal Parks. (Yes, the project started in 2006 and ended in 2009 – never say My Friend’s House isn’t the place for breaking deck chair news). Love the earlier ones, with figures from the graphic arts featured heavily. Not so hot on the later celeb designs – would you sit on a deck chair knowing Anthony Worrall Thompson had designed it?
Left to right, designs by: Peter Saville, Julie Verhoeven, Gary Hulme, Eley Kishimoto
